Respondents from TREE2 who had been successful against the odds at the end of compulsory schooling and one of their parents. The notion of ‘success against the odds’ was defined as parents who 1) are of modest social origin (lower socio-economic status and non-tertiary educated) and 2) whose child has attended an advanced or high requirement track at the end of lower secondary education.
