DATA TRANSFER/USE AGREEMENT to obtain nurses at work data for research purposes Researchers external to the original team agree upon and sign the following conditions: 1. to use the data cited above and related instruments only for scientific research and education within an academic context, and for no other purpose; 2. to use the data with respect to standard norms for data protection, and not to undertake to attribute anonymous data to specific individuals; 3. to use the data in a conscientious and informed manner, notably by consulting the related documentation, and to respect scientific ethical rules of conduct; 4. to communicate obtained results only in a way that does not identify individual cases (i.e., persons, households, or institutions); 5. to cite used data and documents in conformity with scientific standards and acknowledging (1) the original nurses at work team members (individually or as a group)* as well as (2) the funding sources as follows: “nurses at work, supported by the Swiss National Science Foundation grant #105318_147159, the Swiss Health Observatory grant #150010772, the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation grant #BB.2013.0042, the Federal Office of Public Health grant #1014-50109, and the Haute école spécialisée de Suisse occidentale (HES-SO)”; 6. to submit to the PI (Véronique Addor, vaddor@bluewin.ch) a brief research protocol or proposal (min. 1 page) indicating the title, the name and institution of the researcher requesting the data, the date, the co-authors, the objectives, the variables needed, and the planned analysis. A joint decision with co-investigators Jacques-Antoine Gauthier (Unil) and René Schwendimann (Basel hospital) will be communicated to the submitting investigator. 7. to inform the PI and FORS of all publications based on this material; 8. to not transmit these data to third parties, whether in the same or modified form, whether paid or for free, except: a. when the submitting investigator has explicitly conferred work to them relating to the same intended research project, in which case they must be indicated as co-authors in the research/article protocol b. in the framework of academic teaching for pedagogical purposes (e.g., statistical or methodological courses), and after having obtained the consent of the PI and co-investigators for such a transmission of the data; 9. to communicate to third parties, should the case arise, the above conditions, and to ensure that these are respected; 10. to undertake, prior to any use or processing, any appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect the data from unauthorized access, including any processing not expressly authorized by this Agreement; all datasets extracted from the nurses at work server must be deposited on a secured and encrypted hardware of the institution; there must be no transmission of datasets by email. 11. to not use the data in any manner for commercial purposes. 12. to destroy the data after analyses (as outlined in the description below) are completed, and to confirm this to FORS before publication of results. ___________________________ * Véronique Addor (HEdS), Jacques-Antoine Gauthier (Unil), René Schwendimann (INS), Adeline Paignon (HEdS), Dalit Jäckel (INS), Boris Wernli (FORS)
