The selection of companies was based on four criteria. First, we limited our sample to workers from production sites that closed down completely. Second, we chose plants that closed down about two years before the survey. Third, we selected plants which employed, at the moment of closure, no less than 150 employees, namely mid-sized and large plants. Fourth, we focused on manufacturing – the sector generally most strongly affected by job displacement.
