The field research was organized around certain referent public events that are recognized within the public discourse as moments in which the existence of gender minority groups become visible such as Pride Parade in Serbia and Montenegro, and Pride Week in Macedonia. The analyzed media samples cover two weeks before the selected event, the time of the event itself and two weeks after.
Media samples have been analyzed from interdisciplinary research perspectives which include various methodological approaches such as: quantitative analyses, qualitative content analysis of selected samples, interviews with LGBTTIQ representatives, narrative and discourse analysis etc. The research covers a wide range of topics related to the position of GMG in the regional media applying theoretical insights from gender, media and culture studies as well as from contemporary sociological, demographic, anthropological, and political research.
