Abstract

Objectives: The project aims to shed new light on the issue by studying the current use of electric vehicles. The project will undertake a secondary analysis of pilot studies in Germany, France, Austria, Switzerland and Norway focussing on the question how are electric cars actually utilized by the consumers. The objective of the study is therefore to assess the future potential of electric vehicles as a potential key element in a new mobility policy in the EC. Technical Approach: In order that the debate surrounding the chances and risks of electric vehicles' promotion may be conducted on a solid empirical base, this project aims to seek out and compile the available empiricial results and to define the state of the art on a country by country basis, in particular with regard to the acceptance levels of such vehicles. The project will strive to identify and develop the policy implications of current user pattern of electric cars, and to define those areas requiring further research.

Results

The results of this project will present a substantial interest to the cars manufacturers but also to the responsible people for the urban planning. They could be also useful for the Task force "Car of Tomorrow". The results will be so widely disseminated to the persons in charge of these activities.
