On the basis of the evaluated media content in minority languages and on the basis of interviews with people who are directly involved in creating it, we tried to assess opportunities for improving the quality of information in national minority languages and also, on the basis of analysis, to produce a number of recommendations for improving public policies and mechanisms of public control of content of these media outlets.
• Semi structural interviews
Originally, 63 interviews were conducted (25 in Bosnia, 15 in Serbia, 15 in Macedonia adn 8 in Montenegro). Only 24 interviews with journalists, government officials and representatives of minority associations from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Macedonia are available.
• Content analysis of media
Evaluated in a period of 9 months, the content of selected minority media (3 print and 3 electronic per country / 24 media in total) in 4 countries of the region – Bosnia-Herzegovina, Serbia, Macedonia and Montenegro. Although initially it was planned to include six media per country in the sample, i.e. three print and three electronic media, due to the specifics of the social and media context, the sample in Macedonia was modified to include the media that are most followed by the audience.
