This dataset contains more than 150'000 individual students. In general (without repeating a class) students can appear four times over the entire school career across all datafiles. The number of rows (students per check) is over 265'000. The daatafiles are available as CSV, SAV (SPSS) and RDS (R) format. The cantons of the BR NWCH (Aargau, Basel-Landschaft, Basel-Stadt, Solothurn) decide on the basis of the project description in the download request on the use of the data and (additionally; optional) any linking with other data. The download request needs to be in the form of a project description with the following components: Context, research questions and hypotheses, methods, planned publications, data required, linking with other data (if planned), and information about the data administration within the scope of the project (storage, access, deletion). It takes about six weeks until a request can be answered. If linking with other datasets is planned and the download request is granted a second request has to be filed to the Swiss Federal Statistical Office (FSO).

The item content and detailed information about the test designs are confidential and not included in the codebook. If access thereto is needed, this has to be included in the download request.
